Isabella Garrioch

Bella is a Research Fellow at the CC Lab.

Isabella (Bella) is a biogeochemist, with a focus on carbon cycling in a variety of ecosystems, including northern peatlands, Arctic boreal forests, and tropical mangrove rivers. She enjoys exploring the environment from both a scientific and political lens. This crossover between science and policy is where she finds herself most excited and proud to work. At the Lab, she works in the Biologic Program, conducting field and lab experiments to assess biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) approaches across the United States.

Bella is a recent graduate from the Yale School of the Environment, where she completed a Master of Environmental Science. Her thesis explored carbon cycling and methane fluxes along mangrove estuaries. Bella also holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies (summa cum laude) from Macalester College and completed a Fulbright research fellowship in Sweden in 2024.
