Berta Lascuevas Laguna
Berta is an Associate at the CC Lab.
Berta is a bioengineer with a strong enthusiasm for innovation. She specializes in evaluating both established and emerging technologies through process modeling, life cycle assessment (LCA), and techno-economic analysis (TEA). Her work has focused on the assessment and scale-up of biotechnologies to reduce environmental impact and support sustainable development. She has led and contributed to projects ranging from organic waste treatment optimization for biogas production to the development of algae-derived bioplastics, collaborating with multidisciplinary researchers, stakeholders, private companies, and startups.
Berta is completing her Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering (2025) at the University of California, Davis. She also holds a B.S. in Food and Agricultural Engineering from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Spain (2018). Alongside her scientific training, she gained business experience through graduate coursework at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and as an Innovator Fellow at Barnstorm Foundry, a Cornucopian Capital startup accelerator focused on food and health.
