Position Description
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The Carbon Containment Lab (CC Lab) is dedicated to advancing scalable and cost-effective climate solutions.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Analyst to join us in New Haven, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geosciences, environmental studies, engineering, data analysis, economics, policy, and/or finance. About the Carbon Containment Lab
The CC Lab is a forward-thinking climate nonprofit based in New Haven, dedicated to scaling climate solutions by applying scientific, entrepreneurial, and investment expertise. Our current focus is on advancing the understanding and adoption of high-potential climate interventions, including methane measurement and mitigation, carbon dioxide removal and storage, and the recovery and destruction of ultra-potent greenhouse gases.
Founded at the Yale School of the Environment in 2020, the CC Lab spun out as an independent nonprofit in early 2024.
The CC Lab has fourteen dedicated members supported by a broad network of external collaborators, advisors, consultants, and interns. We are fortunate to work in a bright, modern, and vibrant office space in downtown New Haven, close to Yale University, where about a dozen students contribute as part-time interns during the school year and over the summer.

The Analyst will be a key member of the CC Lab’s Cooling and Superpollutants team, ensuring that high-quality project work, communications, and organizational priorities are executed effectively, and contributing directly to the CC Lab's mission.
Duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Scientific Desktop Research and Data Analysis:
Develop and apply subject-matter knowledge on superpollutants (short-lived climate pollutants, including hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and ozone-depleting substances; as well as methane, black carbon, nitrous oxide, and tropospheric ozone.
Identify and research novel or neglected opportunities for carbon containment, assessing their feasibility and barriers to success.
Deploy a full range of research methods, including qualitative interviews, surveys, data cleaning and analysis, techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment, policy analysis, and geospatial analysis.
Communication:
Prepare regular reports, memos, presentations, and other publications for both internal and external audiences.
Support the CC Lab’s external communications by drafting and publishing blog posts and website content that highlight project insights and impact.
Develop and prepare content for the organization’s LinkedIn and other communication channels to amplify CC Lab’s work and thought leadership.
Prepare and present materials at conferences, workshops, and events, including both external convenings and those hosted by the CC Lab.
Carbon Removal and Containment Expertise:
Build and share knowledge about the latest developments in climate news, policy, carbon containment technologies, carbon market methodologies and dynamics, and best practices.
Strategy and Impact:
Contribute to developing project strategies that help meet CC Lab goals.
Provide input and track against personal and project “objectives and key results”
Gather data to support the CC Lab in measuring and communicating our impact.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Help to build and maintain collaborations and partnerships with organizations, researchers, policymakers, and companies in the CC lab’s network.
Engage with the regional and local community and stakeholders to raise awareness about carbon containment initiatives and their importance in addressing climate change.
CC Lab Operations and Culture-building:
Support your supervisor and project teams with scheduling, note-taking, filing, and database management work.
Support the CC Lab with various operational and culture-building tasks such as helping to organize offsite meetings and retreats, organizing field trips and site visits, keeping track of contacts, and scheduling team and project meetings.
Support hiring processes for interns and full-time staff by assisting with candidate identification, screening, scheduling interviews, conducting first-round interviews with interns, and synthesizing feedback to support team hiring decisions.
Travel:
Travel to field sites, conferences, and meetings to support project objectives. We expect that this position will require 2-4 weeks of travel per year.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably in fields related to environmental/climate science, engineering, economics, geosciences, data science, or related disciplines.
Familiarity with climate and economic modeling approaches, including experience interpreting model outputs to inform policy, investment, or technology assessments.
Knowledge of carbon containment technologies, policies, and mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated interest in climate change, carbon removal, or non-CO2 greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Positive, team-player attitude, with a collaborative spirit that thrives in an innovative environment.
Demonstrated passion or interest in supporting and building climate solutions.
Proactive, self-starter, resourceful, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to dynamic, fast-paced environments common in startups and mission-driven organizations.
Experience and comfort in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a variety of contexts, including scientists, startup founders, investors, and technical experts.
Familiarity, or an interest in learning, life cycle analysis (LCA), and/or ArcGIS.
Familiarity or experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Airtable (or similar database system).
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
Salary and Benefits:
The Carbon Containment Lab offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
Salary of $80,000-$95,000/year, commensurate with experience
